Guwahati-Tezpur (Waterways)-Sangsua/Gatoonga Tea Estate-Majuli Island-Kaziranga National Park –Guwahati (08 Days/07 Nights)

(This is an 08 day tour covering a thrilling cruise down the mighty river Brahmaputra, a Tea Tour in the Tea Estate of Sangsua/Gatoonga, a cultural tour of Majuli-the largest river island in the world and an exciting Wildlife Tour of World Heritage Site Kaziranga National Park)

 

Day 01 Cruise:

Our tour manager will welcome you at Guwahati airport & transfer you to the Cruise vessel on the Brahmaputra River. The river liner leaves Guwahati at about 1430 hrs. And quickly crosses the cityscape and docks in a secluded sand isle near Kuruwa in the late afternoon.You can either stay in the Yacht cabins or if you so desire we shall accommodate you in camps on the lovely beaches or in the isles.

Day 02 Cruise:

Early risers can watch the sunrise from the Sun Deck while savoring a cup of freshly brewed tea. During breakfast, you will be cruising through green valleys & blue hills. The vessel cruises quietly through the day. Overnight stay at Chutiagaon.

Day 03 Cruise:

If you love bird watching move your binoculars for species you have been looking for before breakfast. The vessel cruises through green valleys & blue hills. The landscapes are unrepentantly poetic and romantic. Overnight stay at downstream Singri Ghat.

Day 04 Cruise:

Departing early morning, we spend the time cruising leisurely through green valleys & countryside. Indulge the scenery, feel the fresh air while sailing. We will reach Tezpur in the afternoon. If we have time, we shall go for some sight seeing and local market visit. Overnight stay at Tezpur Ghat


Day 05 Tezpur-Sangsua/Gatoonga Tea Estate(Road Ways/4hr)

After breakfast on board at Tezpur, transfer by road to Sangsua/Gatoonga Tea Estate near Jorhat. On arrival check in at the heritage garden manager’s bungalow. Afterwards, we shall start the tea tour—from plucking the leaves to the factory works. Once the tour is over you are free at leisure enjoying the gardens till you drop!

Unlike many tea producing nations in the world, the Tea Gardens in Assam are big in size covering several hectares. Assam tea is known for its Black Teas-Orthodox and C.T.C.

Day 06 Sangsua/Gatoonga Tea Estate-Majuli Island(1hr drive & 90 min. ferry)-Kaziranga National Park(3hr & 30 min.)

After breakfast we leave this tea estate for Majuli, the largest river island in the World. It is the centre of Assam’s famous Vaisnavite form of Hinduism. The religious and cultural traditions are kept alive by the dedicated monks living in the monasteries locally known as Sattra. The Sattriya dance of this sect is the latest entry into India’s recognized classical dances. The monastery of Samaguri known as Samaguri Sattra is famous for the unique masks of Majuli which are used in Bhaona or religious plays.

We shall visit some monasteries & interact with the monks.

Later in the afternoon transfer to Kaziranga National Park,a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the home to the endangered one horned rhinoceros( 1855 rhinos as per 2006 census) . Besides, the park has several species of mammals and birds. The park has 70% of the world population of the Asiatic Water Buffalos & the Eastern Swamp Deer. The park was brought under the Project Tiger recently for special efforts to protect its near 100 Royal Bengal Tigers. Amongst birds, the park has 25 globally threatened bird species. Overnight at Bonhabi Resort/Jupuri Ghar or similar.

Day 07: Kaziranga National Park-Guwahati (4 hr)

Full day at Kaziranga National Park. We shall start early in the morning for an elephant safari for 01 hr in the central range of the park. Later we have packed-breakfast & enter the central range of the park in a jeep. Later we come back to hotel for lunch. Afterwards, in the afternoon we enter the park again in a jeep this time covering the western range of the park.

Later in the late afternoon, transfer to Guwahati. Overnight at hotel Nakshatra/Pragati Manor.

Day 08: Guwahati Airport Transfer:

Depending on your flight departure if we have time we shall do some shopping for Assam’s famous handloom & handicraft products & also for some famous Assam tea known for its strong liquor.

Later transfer to Guwahati airport for your flight on time.
